My 500-hour yoga teacher training course journey in Rishikesh at Rishikesh Yoga Valley School

Yoga Student doing suryanamaskat in rishikesh

When I first signed up for a 500-hour yoga teacher training course, thanks of friend, she did it before me, I didn’t fully grasp what I was committing to. Before arriving, I felt like I was going to my spiritual boot camp. Like this teenage sign to the military, and they dont now what is going to happen.I just knew that I needed a drastic change.
The course was rigorous and transformative experience that ultimately changed my life forever.
It was as if everything up to that point had been leading me to this moment.

If you’re contemplating whether to embark on a similar journey, let me offer some advice: don’t hesitate. If you’re feeling the pull towards this path, take the plunge and book the first flight to India. The 500-hour course is a more profound experience compared to the 200-hour program. While the 200-hour course provides you with the foundational knowledge, the additional 300 hours in the 500-hour program goes deeper, offering a more comprehensive understanding and practice.

It’s not just about learning yoga poses; it’s about reshaping your entire life, your spiritual life and mindset. It’s about embracing a lifestyle that encompasses not just physical fitness, but also mental and spiritual growth. This transformation begins with your body, extends to your mind, and ultimately elevates your spirit.

During the course, I faced many challenges, especially related to my physical health. I was carrying excess weight, which initially make very challenging my progress. It was through this rigorous practice that I came to understand the importance of diet and how it impacts overall well-being. I adopted intermittent fasting and made conscious dietary choices, reducing my intake of potatoes and bread, which led to a significant weight loss of six kilograms.

However, one thing I discovered was that the dietary guidance offered by the training center wasn’t correct. From my personal experience, I learned that my body responded better to a diet rich in fats and proteins rather than carbohydrates. Observing others around me, I noticed many struggling with weight issues, partly due to their dietary choices of high-carb foods like oats, potatoes, and bread, for their first meal of the day.

What works for one person may not necessarily work for another. If you’re embarking on this journey, take control of your nutrition. Understand your body type and how it reacts to different foods. Customize your diet to support your practice and overall health goals.

The yoga teacher training was a holistic journey. It wasn’t just about physical practice; it was about integrating profund values in the core of my human existence. The course pushed me to confront and overcome physical limitations, which in turn, helped me to clear mental blockages and achieve a higher state of consciousness. This process is a testament to the holistic nature of yoga—it truly starts with the body, then moves to the mind, and finally elevates the spirit.

In the grand scheme of things, this experience has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for myself. The training has equipped me with invaluable skills, both in yoga practice and in life. It has instilled a sense of discipline, awareness, and inner peace that I hadn’t experienced before.

To anyone considering this path, I urge you to dive to it.
