FAQ
Is This Retreat Right for Me?
Do I need any yoga or Ayurveda experience to join?
No – this retreat is designed for beginners through intermediate practitioners, and no prior Ayurveda knowledge is needed. The curriculum starts from first principles (what doshas are, how Ayurveda views the body) and the yoga classes are paced for newcomers.
Is this retreat safe if I'm pregnant or managing a medical condition?
This retreat includes hands-on Ayurvedic therapies (like Abhyanga, Swedana, and Shirodhara) alongside yoga, which makes it different from a yoga-only retreat in one important way: some treatments aren’t appropriate during pregnancy or with certain medical conditions. Your program opens with a one-on-one Ayurvedic consultation – that’s exactly when this gets addressed, so let the consulting practitioner know about pregnancy, medications, recent surgery, or any condition you manage, and your treatments will be adjusted accordingly. If you’re pregnant, message our team before booking so we can talk through what’s suitable.
What's the difference between this 7-day retreat and your 10-day Advance Ayurveda retreat?
This 7-day program is the introductory version – foundational Ayurveda principles, doshas, and general wellness, in a group of 15-20. The 10-day Advance retreat goes further into clinical topics (digestive fire, and lifestyle-driven conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and PCOS), with a couple of additional therapies, in a smaller group of up to 10. If Ayurveda is new to you, this 7-day retreat is the natural place to start.
Do I get a certificate at the end?
Yes – you’ll receive a certificate of completion for the 7-Day Ayurveda program, covering the principles, doshas, and lifestyle practices you learn during the retreat. This is a completion certificate, not a professional or medical qualification. If you’re looking to become a certified yoga teacher, our 100 to 500-hour Yoga Teacher Trainings are the credentialing path for that.
How many people are in each retreat group?
Groups are capped at 15-20 participants – a bit more sociable than our smaller, 10-person-max 10-day Advance retreat, while still small enough for real individual attention.
Price, Booking & Cancellations
What's included in the price?
The price covers 7 days / 6 nights of accommodation (shared or private), all satvik vegetarian meals, the full Ayurveda and yoga curriculum, all Panchakarma-style therapies and workshops listed in the program, and nature walks and excursions around Rishikesh (including a Ganga Aarti visit and nearby waterfalls). International students pay $300 (shared) or $400 (private); Indian students pay ₹20,000 (shared) or ₹25,000 (private).
What's not included - and is airport pickup free or extra?
Airport pickup from Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport is complementary for international students. Indian students are charged separately for this transfer – our team can confirm current pricing when you book. Everything else (accommodation, meals, the full curriculum and therapies, excursions) is included in the retreat price for everyone.
How do I book, and is a deposit required?
Book through the registration form on our Apply Now page, where you’ll also choose a shared or private room. A $50 USD For (International Participants) and 2000₹ for (Indian Participants) deposit secures your spot, payable by PayPal, bank transfer, or Google Pay – full details are on that page. Our team will confirm the remaining balance and payment method with you directly.
What if I need to cancel or change my dates?
If your plans change, your deposit isn’t lost – we’ll move your reservation to another available month rather than cancel it outright. For specific refund questions, confirm the current terms with our team before you book.
The Ayurveda & Yoga Program
What Ayurvedic therapies and treatments are included?
Your program includes hands-on therapies alongside the classroom curriculum: Abhyanga (a warm oil full-body massage) or Swedana (herbal steam therapy), Marma therapy (massage on the body’s vital energy points), Udhwarthana (a herbal powder massage), Shirodhara (a continuous stream of warm oil across the forehead, deeply calming for the nervous system), and Tarpana (a nourishing eye treatment). You’ll also taste Rasayana tonics – traditional Ayurvedic rejuvenation preparations – and learn Jal Neti, a classical yogic nasal-cleansing technique. Exactly which therapies you receive is customized to your body type during your consultation.
What does a typical day look like?
Unlike a standard yoga retreat, each day here builds on a different theme rather than repeating the same schedule. Mornings are for yoga, pranayama, and cleansing practices; each day then introduces a new piece of the Ayurveda curriculum – doshas, digestion, rejuvenation therapies, the senses – paired with a hands-on therapy or workshop. Day 5 is a day trip into the Rishikesh mountains, and Day 7 closes with a final practice, farewell, and checkout. The full day-by-day breakdown is above on this page
Will I get a personal dosha consultation?
Yes – your program includes a one-on-one Ayurvedic consultation where a practitioner assesses your dosha (body constitution) and current imbalances, and uses that to personalize your treatments and dietary notes rather than giving everyone the same generic program.
What yoga practices are included alongside Ayurveda?
You’ll practice Hatha and Ashtanga yoga, pranayama, and bandhas (breath and energy locks), plus Yoga Nidra (deep guided relaxation) and classical Shatkarma cleansing techniques like Jal Neti. Teaching is in English, with Hindi also spoken by the team.
Food & Accommodation
What's the food like, and can dietary needs be accommodated?
Meals are satvik – vegetarian, freshly prepared from locally sourced ingredients – served throughout your stay, alongside a curriculum session on Agni (digestive fire) and yogic eating habits. Vegan diets and other requirements like gluten-free or specific allergies can usually be accommodated; just tell us when you book so the kitchen can plan ahead.
What are the rooms like - shared or private?
Both options are available, in a property surrounded by green mountains with a walk down to the river. Every room has an attached bathroom with hot and cold water and toiletries, and the grounds include parking if you’re arriving by car.
Is there WiFi, hot water, and clean drinking water? Do I need my own yoga mat?
Yes to all three – WiFi is available on-site, drinking water is filtered and safe, and hot water is available in every room. Yoga mats are provided, so you don’t need to bring your own.
Getting There & Visa
Which airport should I fly into?
The nearest airport is Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport (DED), about 35 minutes from Rishikesh by car – this is usually the easiest option. If you’re arriving internationally, you’ll likely connect through Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) and then take a short domestic flight, train, or bus on to Dehradun/Rishikesh.
What visa do I need for this retreat?
Most nationalities travel on India’s e-Tourist Visa, which explicitly covers short-term yoga and wellness programs under six months that don’t award a professional qualification – this retreat’s completion certificate doesn’t affect that. It’s applied for entirely online and typically processed within a few days; a 30-day e-Visa is normally all you need. Apply a few weeks ahead of travel, and check your country’s specific eligibility on India’s official e-Visa portal before booking flights.
When should I arrive, and when's the best time of year to visit?
Plan to arrive the day before Day 1, so you’re settled in before the welcome ceremony and fire puja that opens the program. For timing your trip across the year, Rishikesh has real seasonal swing – cool winter mornings, a hot spell before the monsoon, then weeks of rain before the clearest, most comfortable stretch. See our Rishikesh Weather Guide for the full month-by-month breakdown.
