No – this retreat is designed for beginners through intermediate practitioners, and no prior Ayurveda knowledge is needed. That said, because the curriculum goes deeper than our 7-day retreat, some guests find it helpful to have done a shorter retreat first or to have some yoga familiarity going in – though it isn’t required.
This retreat includes hands-on Ayurvedic therapies (like Abhyanga, Swedana, and Shirodhara/Shirobasti) alongside a curriculum that touches on conditions like diabetes and hypertension, so it’s different from a yoga-only retreat in one important way: some treatments aren’t appropriate during pregnancy or with certain medical conditions. Your program includes an Ayurvedic consultation, which is exactly when this gets addressed – let the consulting practitioner know about pregnancy, medications, recent surgery, or any condition you manage, and your treatments will be adjusted accordingly. If you’re pregnant or managing a significant health condition, message our team before booking so we can talk through what’s suitable, especially given the more intensive nature of this 10-day program.
This 10-day retreat goes deeper – the curriculum moves into more clinical territory (digestive fire and disease progression, and how lifestyle factors relate to conditions like diabetes, hypertension, PCOS, and insomnia), and the therapies expand to include Shirobasti and a dedicated eye-rejuvenation treatment (Akshi Tarpana). Groups are also much smaller – a maximum of 10, compared with 15-20 on the 7-day retreat – so you get more individual time with the practitioners. If you’ve already done a shorter Ayurveda retreat, or you want to go further into the subject, this is the natural next step.
Yes – you’ll receive a certificate of completion for the 10-Day Advance Ayurveda program, reflecting the deeper curriculum you cover. Like our 7-day retreat’s certificate, this is a completion certificate, not a professional or medical qualification. If you’re aiming to become a certified yoga teacher, our 100 to 500-hour Yoga Teacher Trainings are the credentialing path for that.
Groups are capped at 10 participants – noticeably smaller than our 7-day Basic retreat (15-20), which means more one-on-one time with both the yoga teachers and the Ayurvedic consultant.
The price covers 10 days / 9 nights of accommodation (shared or private), all satvik meals prepared with Ayurvedic principles, the full Ayurveda and yoga curriculum, all Panchakarma-style therapies and workshops listed in the program, and excursions around Rishikesh – including a Sunday outing into the mountains and riverside, and a visit to Ma Kunjapuri Temple. International students pay $430 (shared) or $480 (private); Indian students pay ₹26,000 (shared) or ₹32,000 (private)
Airport pickup from Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport is complementary for international students. Indian students are charged separately for this transfer – our team can confirm current pricing when you book. Everything else (accommodation, meals, the full curriculum and therapies, excursions) is included in the retreat price for everyone.
Book through the registration form on our Apply Now page, where you’ll also choose a shared or private room. A $50 USD deposit secures your spot, payable by PayPal, bank transfer, or Google Pay – full details are on that page. Our team will confirm the remaining balance and payment method with you directly.
If your plans change, your deposit isn’t lost – we’ll move your reservation to another available month rather than cancel it outright. For specific refund questions, confirm the current terms with our team before you book.
Your program includes Abhyanga (a warm oil full-body massage), Swedana (herbal steam) or Udwartana (a herbal powder massage) – customized to your body type – plus Shirodhara or Shirobasti (a continuous stream or retained pool of warm oil that calms the head and nervous system), and Akshi Tarpana, a rejuvenating treatment for the eyes. You’ll also join a full workshop on Rasayana (internal rejuvenation) – its preparation and benefits, with a tasting of traditional Ayurvedic tonics. Exactly which therapies you receive is customized to your body type during your consultation.
Rather than one repeating daily routine, the 10 days move through a structured Ayurveda curriculum – starting with doshas and body constitution, then digestive health, disease patterns, and lifestyle correction – paired with daily yoga, pranayama, and hands-on therapies as you go. Sundays include an excursion into the Rishikesh mountains and riverside, plus a visit to Ma Kunjapuri Temple. Ask our team for the full day-by-day schedule if you’d like it before booking.
Yes – your program includes a one-on-one Ayurvedic consultation assessing your dosha (body constitution) and current imbalances, used to personalize your treatments and dietary notes throughout the 10 days rather than giving everyone the same generic program.
You’ll practice Hatha and Ashtanga yoga, pranayama, and bandhas, plus Yoga Nidra (deep guided relaxation) and classical Shatkarma cleansing techniques. Teaching is in English, with Hindi also spoken by the team.
Yes – part of the coursework introduces how Ayurveda traditionally understands common lifestyle-related imbalances, including topics like diabetes, hypertension, PCOS, and insomnia, alongside the concepts of Agni (digestive fire) and disease progression. This is educational content, not medical treatment – if you’re managing any of these conditions, mention it at your consultation so your Ayurvedic practitioner can advise what’s appropriate for you, and keep working with your regular doctor for ongoing care.
Meals are satvik and vegetarian, prepared according to Ayurvedic principles using locally sourced ingredients to support the doshas alongside your therapies – not just standard vegetarian food. Vegan diets and other requirements like gluten-free or specific allergies can usually be accommodated; just tell us when you book so the kitchen can plan ahead.
Both options are available, in a property surrounded by green mountains with a walk down to the river. Every room has an attached bathroom with hot and cold water and toiletries, and the grounds include parking if you’re arriving by car.
Yes to all three – WiFi is available on-site, drinking water is filtered and safe, and hot water is available in every room. Yoga mats are provided, so you don’t need to bring your own.
The nearest airport is Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport (DED), about 35 minutes from Rishikesh by car. If you’re arriving internationally, you’ll likely connect through Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) and then take a short domestic flight, train, or bus on to Dehradun/Rishikesh. Pickup from either airport is complementary for international students; Indian students are charged for this transfer.
Most nationalities travel on India’s e-Tourist Visa, which covers short-term yoga and wellness programs under six months that don’t award a professional qualification – this retreat’s completion certificate doesn’t affect that. It’s applied for entirely online and typically processed within a few days; a 30-day e-Visa comfortably covers a 10-day stay. Apply a few weeks ahead of travel, and check your country’s specific eligibility on India’s official e-Visa portal before booking flights.
Plan to arrive the day before your program begins so you’re settled in for the opening session. For timing your trip across the year, Rishikesh has real seasonal swing – cool winter mornings, a hot spell before the monsoon, then weeks of rain before the clearest, most comfortable stretch. See our Rishikesh Weather Guide for the full month-by-month breakdown.
