At Rishikesh Yog Valley, our 200 hour yoga teacher training program has transformed the lives of numerous students. As they share their experiences on our website www.rishikeshyogavalley.com , we’re reminded of the profound impact our authentic yoga school has made on their journies. Here are 5 important lessons our students have learned:
What Our 200-Hour YTT Students Learned: 5 Powerful Takeaways
1. The Importance of Correct Yoga Alignment
Most of our students come well-prepared for our yoga teacher training course. Some students also have years of experience in self-practice. However, upon arrival they discover there is so much more depth to it, when they start learning yoga anatomy & yoga alignment. Getting into a final posture is the least important thing, but preparing yourself for each asana, understanding every asana to it’s core – it’s impact on your mental body & physical body, & creating a safety to your mind & body should be the true essence of your practice. Along with that, teaching students to avoid any possible chances of Repititive Stress Disorders due to wrong forms in practice is of prime importance to us. Most of our students describe their experience as “learning from the scratch”. We lay a strong foundation of knowledge, & encourage creativity in our students to utilize it in their future classes.
Whether you’re taking up this course for self-development or for becoming a yoga teacher in future, the most important thing is to learn the right methodolgy for practice.
One of students writes “Rishikesh Yoga Valley is the best place for learning yoga in Rishikesh, Kamal has in-depth knowledge of Yoga Alignment & his adjustments are on-point! Perfect! He is a local guru of the Yoga Capital – Rishikesh ! He has learnt yoga for his great gurus & has many years of teaching practice. I’m grateful for him for giving me this knowledge & I can’t wait to come back! “
2 . The Secret to Healthy & Happy Living
We believe the secret to a happy life lies in our routine. Human beings need to be connected to their true selves & nature in order to experience fulfillment in life. No matter how many goals we chase in concrete jungles, at the end of the day our hearts crave simplicity & authenticity. We have discovered this secret & we wish to provide this experience to everyone who joins us. We have built a routine that has a balance of movement & rest, healthy & nourshing meals for body & soul, meaningful excursions to connect with nature, encourage real conversations, because at the end of the day, as humans we all crave connection.
Many of our students like to describe Rishikesh Yoga Valley as their second “home”. Because this is where they have felt safe to express themselves, ask questions without hesitation, & seek guidance from our experienced teachers in the direction of their goals & interests. We proud to say that every student has left our school feeling happier & a promise to come back.
3 . Enriched Health & Well-Being
Our students describe the food at our yoga school as – “fresh & simple, satvic, healthy & yummy!” Our meals are simple & crafted with love. Our secret to preparing these yummy meals is using fresh & seasonal produce. We use simple ingredients, avoid making our food spicy & focus on enriching the flavours in the meals. We cater to vegan needs as well to accommodate all students comfortably. By now we are used to compliments from almost every student saying they’d miss the school at our food! As yogis we are conscious & careful about the type of food we consume, as it impacts not just our body, but our minds too. So we aim to serve the same to our students. Many students have also seen a remarkable improvement in the quality of their sleep & their over-all ability to slow down in life.
One of our students says she has reduced cravings for sugars, chocolates & instant energy boosting foods while consuming balanced meals at our school. These experiences & transformations are what keeps us going and happy in our work-life.

4 . A Very Local Experience
Our entire team, including our cook, are locals, to the Yoga Capital of the World. They have innumnerable & interesting stories & experiences to share with students. Outside class, the conversations are light-hearted, about local culture, local food & interesting facts about local mountain people. Our founder, Kamal ji, who grew up in these lower himalayan mountains sometimes arranges a trip to take you back to his childhood home. A experience in-matchable & a dear memory for our students.
“We went to Kamal’s relatives wedding at their moutain home during the weekend, the views are to die for, I never imagined I would get such a experience & get to see local mountain culture in Rishikesh. We tasted variety of food, enjoyed a bon-fire & local music & some local-dance on this sunday, it was the best day, full of love & happiness” writes our student from Spain.
This reminds us of another instance when we celebrated Holi – A Local Festival Of Colours, with our family in Rishikesh. Here is the picture below :

5 . Ayurveda - A Treasure of Herbal Wellness
We included ayurveda in the curriculm of our yoga teacher training for the sole purpose of bringing our students closer to natural sciences & helping them discover their relationship with the universe. The basic principles of Ayurveda teaches the secrets to having a long & healthy life. Using herbal medicines, rejuvenators, home-remedies in everyday life has blessed many people with improved health, conecntration & mental power. Learning about medicinal plants, our bodies in depth & how we can take care of it in today’s fast paced world blesses students with life-long valuable knowledge.
